SLOW browser startup and browser freezes whenever a new tab is opened.

Currently have version 61.0.1 installed on Windows 10, but the problem started appearing while I was still using 61.0. When I open the browser to my homepage, it takes at least 30 seconds to even open the window. The browser then freezes for 10-30 additional seconds before beginning to load the tab. This freezing also happens anytime a new tab is opened. Sometimes the freezing happens before the new tab appears beside the current tab and other times it may get as far as loading the page name onto the tab before freezing. Tried locking down on multiple privacy settings and deleting cookies but to no avail.

Do you have any suggestions I could try that wouldn't require me downloading anything to my machine? I mean, I could try it if that's what it came down to, but I'd prefer not if it isn't necessary.

without that, any suggestions are more of a shot into the dark. for a start, could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum (or if it's too long through a site like https://pastebin.mozilla.org/ and provide the link here)... maybe some clues are already in there...
