That is funny since I followed "Feedback" links in Firefox and it brought me here.

1. No, that old version is dead and is not going to be restored.
2. Look for similar extensions that are compatible now.
3. No Mozilla is not giving up on those users; "change" is a normal part of the evolution of computer software. Stay static for too long, and "you" perish in the marketplace. Rather it seems that is the "users" who are threatening to give up on Firefox, mostly because they can't handle change.

Firefox ESR 52 is the recommended older version. It receives security fixes as needed, at least every 6 weeks until it expires on 08-28-2018 when the next ESR version arrives as an "update" for the current version. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/

But there might be some minor data loss when reverting from Firefox 55 or 56 to ESR 52. That was never a planned event, so changes that were made in Firefox 55 might be slightly incompatible in the older ESR 52 version.

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate your attempt to be helpful even though that bullshit about change was a bit snide. There are no similar extensions, I have looked.

This browser no longer meets my needs and so is obsolete to me. I have played with the older version and it is too dam buggy and gets worse everyday.

I have been through many changes with Firefox since I have been a user almost since day one, I used versions of Mozilla even before Firefox. The changes I have been through with this browser have been for the most part very positive. I embrace change on a daily basis. When change breaks something though you roll back a little and take a fresh start at it.

One good example I have is with Sony Online Entertainment. They changed their core game and overnight lost about 200,000 of their customers or about 3/4s all in the hope of competing with World of Warcraft and their refusal to rollback killed their reputation and eventually their company. I doubt this will kill Firefox but it certainly is not helping.

As with Sony, I will check in now and then to see if it is worth coming back. At the moment I am checking out Edge and it kinda sucks but it streams movies from Amazon and Netflix smoother than FF. Hows that for change? lol

@Stuhero, Addons that don't work with FF57+ isn't FF fault it's the Addon creators whom aren't willing to update so it works with the new FF57+. Reason being for security and stability reason-that is why and if they refuse to update then it behooves on them to fix their Addon creation. So don't lay Addon problems at the feet of FF but at the feet of the Addon creators to fix it.

What are your critical extensions that don't have a counterpart in Firefox 57+?

In case of multi-functional extensions like Classic Theme Restorer and Tab Mix Plus, which aspects do you rely on?

"StumbleUpon" was one of my favs replaced with StumbleBar and now is either a huge blob in the corner of the screen or in classic mode it is a massive toolbar whereas It used to be a few buttons on the menu bar. The reason for this is they are no longer allowed to have their buttons on the menu bar.

"Show Me More", "RightToClick", "Thumbs" have no equivalent extension that I could find. There were more that I did find replacements and some that I could not replace but did not use enough to worry about but what a huge pain in the butt.

Don't listen to the likes of @the-edmeister and @WestEnd the Mozilla developers decided that they no longer wanted the effort of supporting a complex and flexible eco-system of addons that allowed for power users to use a browser in a way which made the most effective use of their time in front of a web browser. So no, you won't find replacements a lot of the time, because it's no longer possible to do what you could anymore, and those plugins which did make the migration have all without exception lost some kind of functionality in the transition. You don't hear Mozilla saying that it would have been impossible to rebuild the addons system which would have retained the flexibility and functionality of the old addons system. They chose not to and that's where we're now at.
