These could be something you used but forgot about. Is it just you and the wife on the system?
Check the dates on the folders. That is when they were last accessed.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Then reinstall the latest version.
Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

A little more detail on checking dates: please check inside each of the profile folders to see the rough age of the files. For examples:
- places.sqlite is the history database, so that would be updated whenever you have used that profile for non-private browsing, or whenever you last added a bookmark
- in the bookmarkbackups folder, you'll find files with the creation date encoded into the file name
If they are too old to be useful, then you can remove the folders.
If you accidentally delete a live profile, try restoring it from the Windows Recycle Bin as soon as possible.
You can check the compatibility.ini in each profile to see what Firefox version last used this profile.
Note that Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder, so you may want to remove files in both locations. Easiest to remove profiles would be to use the Profile Manager, but make sure to double check that you aren't removing your current profile. Profiles that have a date stamp appended were created as the result of using the refresh feature in Firefox.
