Suddenly and for no reason I can't send any mail, or reply, using my Yahoo address. I can receive yahoo mail and my other Hotmail and Gmail accounts are working fine. This is creating havoc as this is my main business account. I have tried deleting and recreating the account. I have checked all the settings and everything seems fine. I have created a new password to no avail. I can use my yahoo mail account online but I want to use Thunderbird it's convenient and I like it. Any help would be gratefully recieved

First of all, are you 100% absolutely, completely, totally sure that the SMTP settings for your Yahoo account are set in Thunderbird the way Yahoo says they should be? (https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html)

   Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
   Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
   Port - 465 or 587
   Requires SSL - Yes
   Requires authentication - Yes

For my sanity, please double check!

Next thing to check is if you need to use an App password, or a "3rd party app password" as Yahoo calls it. Yahoo: Understand and create 3rd party app passwords OR Temporarily allow or deny access to apps using older security sign in ("temporarily" being the operative word here).

Thanks. Temp allow access worked.
