All information is lost. Was away from my computer for an hour and came back to firefox being FRESHLY installed. (noone home or has access to this computer.) Its screen asked if I wanted to import bookmarks from another browser. I DONT USE ANY OTHER. This is the THIRD time this has happened! Its lost everything. AGAIN. I may have to stop using Firefox and go to chrome. This is ridiculous. No other crash on my computer, no other updates, no changes at all, except this. If this isnt fixed, for the last time, Im leaving Mozilla.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

I have two active malware programs which both are operational. The scans revealed nothing. Now what?

Installed and ran all of these:

Now what shall I do about all my missing info from firefox?

If you have backups we can help you restore them.

These can't get your data back but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

As I said in my initial post -- everything was wiped clean-- totally 100 gone. I did not authorize an uninstall of firefox and when it did it itself, it wiped everything. This is the third time this has happened....

Firefox is not set up to remove itself or user profiles unless someone tells it to.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

No. There is no old firefox folder on the desktop. As I mentioned, everthing was fine, left the computer and came back in under an hour. All gone. What would have done it then?

When idle, a computer would be doing background tasks. But this would not include removing any files, other than temporary.
