Dear all, I know that to have Firefox save downloads to a specific folder, you go to options, tools, and browse for the folder. My issue with this option is that it is NOT consistent. If you ever downloaded anything to a different folder and go back to the site again, it saves it in THAT folder instead of the folder you specify.

Why is this such a difficult concept for a browser to handle? If I specify where I want my downloads to go, I do NOT want to have to fishing around my folders to find them merely because I downloaded something from the same site to a different folder before.

Many of us download items from the web for different purposes, and having to look or remember where you might have downloaded something important is maddening.

Please FIX or at least provide us with an option to make sure that ALL downloads go to the folder specified in the the tools option bar.

Thank you!!

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download sorter. Some of them can sort based on file type or from what site.

The last used directory for the website (host) serving the file for download will be preselected in the file picker. If no download directory for the current website (host) has been stored, browser.download.lastDir will be used. You can disable the feature to remember a host based download directory by creating a new Boolean pref on the about:config page with the name browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite pref and set its value to false.

You can delete the content-prefs.sqlite file in the Profile Folder to only remove settings stored in this file. That way you keep exceptions stored in permissions.sqlite that would get lost if you clear the "Site Preferences" via Clear Recent History.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
