Yesterday, when I opened a message from a sender on my Mail Content Exceptions list, it displayed the HTMl content. Today, it wont. If I reinstall the Thunderbird app, will I lose all my saved email?

You won’t lose your email when uninstalling Thunderbird, since user settings and data (including email) will be retained in a profile. Therefor reinstalling does not fix issues in general, and such an issue should just not occur, nor need a reinstall to get fixed. But you could try anyway if you like.

Assuming you are referring to HTML style, not included or remote images in particular, most common are specific settings in Thunderbird that you may have toggled. Make sure to:

  • Set View > Message body as to Oiginal HTML
  • Check View -> Display Attachments Inline
  • Set the drop-down for preferred style in a contact’s Address Book entry to Unknown or HTML, not Plain text

Also please have a look at the Remote Content in Messages article.

Does this help? Or is it specifically about images not loading?

Setting View>Message body as to Original HTML fixed the problem. I don't recall that I ever went to that menu item. Thank You very much for the help. Richard
