The Add Security Exception Dialog box is up and I cannot remove it. Not by clicking cancel, not by clicking Confirm Security Exception. And I cannot shut down Thunderbird. (Note, I have not tried shutting off the computer yet and restarting Tbird.)

Basically I can do nothing in Tbird except look at address book. Or write a message. This from the taskbar (running windows 7 ultimate). But I can't shut down the program from the taskbar.

As a final thing, I do not use the email accounts associated with Tbird (changed jobs) and I only use Tbird to access the stored emails on my hard drive to get old contacts, retrieve information, etc.

So do I just have to shut down the computer or is there another workaround that does not involve shutting down the computer?

right click your account in the folder pane select settings.

Click on the server settings entry in account settings for each account. When you find the one that uses that server make the connection security none.

If you only need the archived emails go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Mozilla\Thunderbird\ and grab the folder that shows some_random_numbers.default and parse that for the emails.

In regards to the security exception can you elaborate on what it is in reference to or the site that is triggering it'?

Thanks for the response. However how do I parse that folder to read my emails? I assumed only Tbird could read the files.

Regarding the site: mail.zmangames.com. And the exact info in the dialog box is mail.zmangames.com:110. I have not used That server in years. But all of a sudden the box came up while I tried to access some emails through Tbird.

So, is there no way to shut down this dialog box? Tbird is up and running and I can't shut it down as well nor access anything useful on it.

Also, I tried to find the app data info, but I do not know which file to grab nor how to open those files to read my old emails.

I have the same problem. I guess it is not great not to have security (no ssl no Tls) The pop up window that can't be closed offer to omit the exception but doesn't accept it. Looks to me more like a thunderbird bug. I don't have certificate.

Thanks for the responses. I solved the issue from someone above who posted that I get the security connection to be none.

I had to close the program and quickly access my account to check off those boxes. So all is good now.
