Firefox, on our family's Dell Latitude Windows 10 (business), cannot access internet: we receive "insecure connection" message. Firefox continues to work as usual with our desktop Windows 10 (business), connected to the router, and our netbook Windows 7 starter that uses the same wifi extender signal as the Latitude.

This problem began about a week ago and it did not change after we tried the following fixes: --uninstalled, reinstalled, and (today) updated Firefox. --followed Mozilla advice to access the Windows Firewall and change apps; a McAfee firewall blocks all changes in Apps. --followed Mozilla advice to reset McAfee firewall settings to defaults --called McAfee support, which tested the problem by having us disable the McAfee firewall. The Windows firewall still would not allow any changes and Firefox still rejects all attempts to access the web as "insecure connection."

I am sending this message from the desktop where I can access Mozilla, not from the problematic laptop.

Hi Monika, Sounds like you have tried to address most of the potential problems & I am not sure i see any obvious answer.

Can you get to websites that are not supposed to be secure and use http:// without the s ( as opposed to https:// ). You may need to try some website where you have not already visited the secure version, or Firefox may try to go to the secure site.

Try this it is a real link and real website

example.com

set up for test and demonstration use.

It sounds like you may already have seen these 2

  1. What do the security warning codes mean?
  2. Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet

I am not sure whether from your comment you are explaining you know the Windows Firewall can not be changed and is blocking Firefox. It may be that the Windows Firewall is inactive because McAfee is in use.

If you have a McAfee a firewall you probably have McAfee Anti Virus, I do NOT see that as listed as one that is causing problems.
