With the right recovery programs, it may be possible. But that is above the help you can get here.
any suggestions on a program that may do it that doesnt cost any thing since I only ned it for one thing
I'm trying to understand the sequence of events. For example:
Saturday: added a new bookmark
Sunday: used Firefox's bookmark restore feature to restore a backup from Friday, wiping out what happened Saturday
Is that the scenario here (give or take a few date details), or did you use an external restore function?
okj on 7-23 i backed up my book marks than i had to format than i had to format the hard drive and than when I reinstalled firefox I accidentally backed up the 7-25 on top of the 23 in stead of restoring it so I was wondering how I can get the 7-23 back.
How did you create the backup on 7-25 that replaced the backup from 7-23?
If Firefox or Windows asked if you wanted to replace the older file and you clicked OK, that might be impossible to recover from. But I'm not sure if that's what happened.
Do you want to see whether Windows created a restore point in between? Windows usually captures the Firefox data folder in a restore point, so if you had restored the file there, you might be able to find it. This program is useful for searching restore points for specific files: http://nicbedford.co.uk/software/systemrestoreexplorer/
ok on 7-23 i backed it up to start with then I formated the hard drive than i reloiaded firefox and instead of hitting retore 7-23 I hit backo up on 7-23
I'm sorry, I still don't know whether you mean you were using Firefox's bookmark backup and restore feature -- described in this article:
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
-- or another program.
yes they are Firefox bookmarks but I over wrote them after I formatted the pc with today bookmarks
Where was the file? If the file was on the C drive, try the System Restore Explorer. If the file was on external storage, I don't have any ideas.
oh well I bet there is no way and restoring them back to the older date thanks for the thought guys.
