Firefox is a web browser similar to Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, which you are familiar with. You can have multiple web browsers simultaneously and choose the one you prefer for particular uses. Firefox should add its icon to your desktop for when you want to use it.

When you first install Firefox, it will ask you whether you want to make it the default browser. The default browser is the one that handles links opened from other programs (e.g., a mail program, or Adobe Reader). If you're not sure you want Firefox to be your default browser, just say No.

Firefox also can start up by importing data from one of your other browsers. For more information on that, see: Import data from another browser.

Regarding searching, Firefox has a deal with Yahoo in North America so most likely your first search will be sent to Yahoo instead of Bing or Google. You can choose your preferred search site using the Options page. This article has the steps: Change your default search settings in Firefox.

Regarding email, you do not get a new email account with Firefox, so you should keep using your existing email account(s). To get into your Google services in Firefox, just type google.com in the address bar and press Enter or click the go button, and that should get you there.

Now, about Vipre... some security software integrates with browsers by adding toolbars or by intercepting your connections. I don't know about Vipre. But you could give it a try and see how they work together.
