On just ONE account (I believe) I changed password, but when I login it always offers a wrong (the old?) password. I've deleted the username/password in the password manager but it still reverts to this wrong password. I've installed the "safe password manager" addin, removed ALL the entries I can find for the account, then when logging in deliberately used lowercase username, entered the correct password & logged in, and chose "Remember" I checked the Safe Password Manager which shows the username in lower case, and the correct password, but the next time I go back to the site, the offered username is in Capitals, and the password is wrong, from the number of bullets I'd guess the original password before the change Can anyone suggest a solution before I give up and go back to using IE11

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

You can rename/delete logins.json and key3.db files in the Firefox profile folder or check the content of the logins.json file to see if there are corrupted entries in the file.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, cache, and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
