In attempting to copy numerous contacts from my address book I inadvertently hit the delete key. Can they be recovered?

There is no going back on that action.. That is why there is an are you sure prompt when you delete from the address book.
If you install MoreFunctionsForAddressBook, it's possible to attempt to restore deleted contacts by right-clicking the address book as shown in the picture.
