The right edge is off the screen and I can't adjust the width.

Somehow I got the date column off the right side of the screen and can't reach it now to reduce the column width so I can see part of the message.

right click the heading and unsubscribe from enough headings so you can actually see what you want. Then modify the width and restore the headings you want.

I only have Subject, From and Date selected. I can't find a column for the message and I have to click twice to read it. I think I've tried every column in the list.

If a resizable window is too wide, you can pull the right edge to the left by pressing and releasing each of these keys in sequence:

Alt+spacebar
s
right-arrow
left-arrow

Repeat the left arrow key as needed until the right edge of the window is in view then press Enter.

If the problem is internal to the window, this won't help.

I think the source of the problem is that I can't find a way to select the column I used to have that showed part of the message. That column went to the right of the date which goes to the right edge. Resizing the window didn't help. I've tried all of the options by right clicking the heading. I guess I'm stuck. Thanks for taking the time to help me.

I think we are all looking at columns and your looking for the reading pane. Press F8

Beautiful Matt! I now have the reading pane at the bottom of the screen. The only thing left is to get it as a column to the right of the date if that is still possible.

Thanks to everyone who has helped. It is appreciated.

Thanks again Matt! I found layout under the Thunderbird Menu/Options/Layout. You must sit around all day looking for people to help! Glad you are there.

Blessings!
