I have Google set as my default search engine. When I am in any of a number of sites and click on a link to open it, the page does open but only momentarily, and then the browser switches over to Yahoo search for that topic. I'd like to keep this from happening but don't know how. I'm on a Mac Book Pro, OS 10.9.5. this was not happening before the switch to Yahoo as the default Firefox search engine.

thanks

Bookmark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Did you use the scanner from my last post?

Open you Add-ons Manager, and disable Yahoo Anything !

Now open your computers Programs Folder and do the same.

After, reboot, then start Firefox.

Type about:addons<Enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

Using your file browser, open the Programs folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

I had tried that. Thanks. No luck. So I went online and searched the phrase that came up in the top of the browser window every time this happened...it had started happening with Safari too) "DNS Yahoo server handler error" and came up with TONS of people who had this problem, most of which seemed to opo up withn Fiorefox switched to Yahho. One suggested running AdMedic and deleting adware. Which I did. TA DAHHHH!!! Problem seems to be gone. thanks for all your patient assistance.

Am I to understand that with current Firefox you cannot simply choose the search engine in the search bar and use that?
