I have created several filters for my two joined Inbox accounts, my filters have been established from the "create filter from..." option but they don't execute at all?? any clues on why this is happening? I tried all possible methods of creating filters and have checked them all and ran them manually too, but the messages sit there in the INBOX and never get moved to my selected folders.

I have this problem too. I tried the "add a star" thing that file suggested and it didn't add a star.

I also tried re-installing thunderbird and that didn't help. I am willing to recreate all of my filters if deleting a file would make it work again.

Mine stopped working after I added an IMAP account to my accounts profile.

Thanks!

The star is not related to filters at all.

Under the troubleshooting section of the link you posted it says

"If you have never written a message filter before and can't figure out what is wrong, try starting smaller and working your way up. For example, you might have written a filter to move certain new messages to a different folder and it doesn't seem to do anything. Modify the message filter to make it add a star to all new messages. That is something harmless you can see and easily undo manually. If that works then modify it to add the star only for those messages that you want to move to a folder. If that works then modify it to move the messages instead of adding a star. The reason for doing this is by starting small its easier to catch and debug common errors, or identify if there is something wrong with that account that prevents any message filter from working etc. "

And that is what I was referring to. Regardless of your familiarity with that document, do you have any real help as to why our filters are not working or how to make them work again? Because that is why we are both here- to make our filters work again.

The most common cause for a filter not working is having enabled the setting "Match all of the following", when you really want "Match any of the following".

Have you checked that setting?
