In previous versions of Firefox the mousewheel scrolled pages up or down at a constant rate.

This behavior was changed causing the scrolling speed to decelerate as the end or beginning of a page is reached. This introduces extra delay when rapidly navigating web pages.

I there a way to disable this feature?

Also, what PROBLEM is being solved by this feature?

hello, you can easily disable smooth scrolling in firefox/tools > options > advanced > general.

Thanks, that eliminated the delay.

The smooth scrolling was nice (and fast), but the delay was annoying. I prefer 'snappiness' over aestheics...

There are a lot of general.smoothScroll.* prefs on the about:config page to set the smooth scrolling behavior, but I don't know if there are docs about these and which apply to your question.

It's unclear how to use those about:config items and I wasn't able to find any documentation. Tried fiddling with some of the values anyways, but no luck.

Maybe someone can add a general.smoothScroll.decelerationDisable option :)

How can I disable said Firefox scroll 'edge behaviour' (scroll 'deceleration' that occurs when reaching page bottom (or top)) without turning off smooth scroll? In other words, how can I revert scroll behaviour to version 12 or lower? I cant find any general.smoothScroll.* options related to this.
