"close multiple tabs" msg box pops UNDER, so cannot respond - freezes whole system

Sometimes, occasionally, Firefox just hangs, and the whole system refuses to respond to any keypresses or mouse clicks. If I do Ctrl-Alt-Del to get task manager, I can cause it to kill the process which I THINK is causing the problem. But a lot of the time I get the response that the process is "waiting for a response from me", although no such thing is visible. In such cases, I often find (when I get things straightened out a little) that Firefox had popped "up" the message box asking about "close multiple tabs" -- even though I had not to my knowledge tried to close anything. But what is worse: the message box had not popped up but rather popped under, so I could not see it! So I can't respond to the message box because I can't see it, and I can't get to it (assuming I know it is there) because I can't minimize or move any of the windows (since system is totally unresponsive). Has anybody reported such a thing? What can I do. I am almost ready to remove firefox because of this, and my wife is even more frustrated and has threatened to destroy her laptop in a rage.

I noticed in the systems details reported by your version of Firefox, it says that you are currently running version 10.0.2, is the correct?

Updating to the latest version of Firefox fixes a lot of known problems and errors that might have been caused by older versions of Firefox.

At any rate, If you have used Firefox since version 10.0.2, Firefox is sure to have amassed a great amount of data it is holding in cache memory. Cache memory can sometimes get clogged and Firefox has to remember all there is in the cache at all times, which sometimes make it a burden for the application itseld. You can find more information about clearing cache here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
