Firefox for Android makes my Droid X freeze completely so I have to pop the battery - how can I prevent this?

I can use Firefox for a page or two, then I realize the phone has frozen completely. This seems to happen especially if I've lauched Firefox through a link in another application. The Droid X battery is very hard for me to pop out, but I've had to do it several times and so have gone back to Dolphin browser for the time being.

Thanks for the report. We're working on improving the stability of Firefox for Android, but there are still some known problems especially on the Motorola Droid family of phones. We don't have a complete solution ready for this. I hope a future version will fix this problem.

I'm having the same problem with the official Firefox 4 release. I'm not on the Droid X though, I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S phone (Vibrant) running Froyo.

It is very easy to replicate, I keep trying to use firefox (because I like it), but my phone locks up pretty quickly every time.

Both Firefox 5 and 6 freeze my Galaxy Tab time and time after the upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.3, when visiting http://androiddev.orkitra.com it is intermittent and worst still http://www.wilsoncomm.com.hk/notebook_report.aspx?id=65 it locks up every-time.

This never happened when using the Android stock browser.
