Firefox crashes often, even when I'm not using it. I can be doing anything else on the computer and a crash message pops up. I'm using Windows 10.

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

I wouldn't know. It happens when I haven't even opened Firefox; it must run automatically in the background. If I start it in any mode, I don't see how that would help, unless I start it in Troubleshooting mode and don't turn off the computer for a few days, waiting to see if it's going to crash.

Could be a problem with the Background Update Agent (BUA).

The BUA is controlled by these prefs on the about:config page.

app.update.background.enabled
app.update.background.scheduling.enabled

It took a few tries to uninstall Firefox. It would do so only partially. I finally did a full install and then used Wise Care's forced uninstall, and that got it all. Then I did a new install and followed the instructions from the above suggestion about background updates. Time will tell whether that worked. Thanks for the suggestion.
