why does it take (4) four hours to download my emails from gmail, and if I interrupt, they are blank. (win10)
if I click on an email before all emails are downloaded, which takes about four !!! hours, the emails are totally blank, or a bunch of totally weird letters and symbols and numbers.

- Please start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode
- Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird
Does problem go away?
I do not have Windows 10. I still have Windows 7 Professional. Also, my computer friend can not help me now because his mother is in Isreal and under attack.
see above
For Windows 7 below. Suggested process is first print the instructions, then they can be used while there is no access to the computer.
Safe Mode - Windows 7 Starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services.
To start in safe mode:
Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer. Click the Start button , click the arrow next to the Shut Down button (or the arrow next to the Lock button), and then click Restart.
Do one of the following:
If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode option you want, and then press Enter.
Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
Safe Mode with Networking. Starts Windows in safe mode and includes the network drivers and services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network.
Now I have to wait until my computer guy is available to do this. His family lives in Isreal and he is very concerned about their safety right now. I will save these instructions for now. Thank you. Ann.
