I am trying to figure out why my user name keeps changing - my client is really unhappy that emails that I think I am sending from one email account end up with a different email address in the "from" field. I have attached a screenshot. You will see that I have [email protected] selected in the account setting screen. In the outgoing smtp server box, you will see that the user ID is [email protected]. I correct this field (changing it to [email protected]) and then if I got the outgoing settings for [email protected], the user ID there has changed to [email protected]. This is happening with the other gmail accounts in Thunderbird as well. My clients have been patient so far but that won't last for long. They don't like emails going to their clients from the wrong email address, and the only way for me to control it at this point is to go into settings for the email account that I am sending from and make sure the outgoing user ID is correct each time before I send an email. As you can imagine, this is getting old really quickly. Please help

So you do actually use multiple Gmail accounts, and all of them use the same SMTP server?

When manually changing the user name for the only SMTP you have you're essentially switching accounts.

Please explain your setup in more detail.
