Some weeks ago i did a fresh install (new laptop) of TB (81.0beta3 64bit, W10 2004). I did save my old profile (TB 80.0Beta 32bit) and copied that to new laptop. Started TB with -p option to point out to correct profile folder. Started TB and mailbox from Internet (i use outlook.com email address with IMAP) was synchronized succesfully. But: Since this fresh install I was never able to send messages; send button always greyed out. Synchronization still working. Even when i goto outlook.com site, login and send email that email is synchonized to my TB send items folder. Any help very much appreciated.

Another troubleshooting step you could try prior to raising a bug would be to check with a new profile.

You'll need to enter a recipient email address into the To: field of a Write window. Then the Send button will become functional.

Note, the current release version is TB78.3.1. https://www.thunderbird.net/ Beta versions as the one you installed are intended for testing purposes, but not for production use.

If you have recipients at "To" line but send button is still greyed out then double-check the smtp/outgoing server settings (here I will look for connection security and play with them)

I am aware of the risk when using beta versions; but have been doing this for couple of years now without serious problems. Certainly not like this one. I do enter an address in the To: field by the way.

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Safemode does not help. Will raise a bug and see what comes out of that. Thanks for the reactions.
