hello ...

yesterday Firefox updated itself on my tablet ( hung on the charger while I was at work ). In the evening all my open tabs were closed, the bookmarks were gone and FF was set as default browser. Where did my tabs and bookmarks go ? Auto update is / was disabled - default browser is another browser for good reason. FF runs / ran there actually permanently and was only sent into the background. Because the tablet should not be synchronized because of special software, the bookmarks only exist there. Why were they removed during a normal update ?

Hi

You shoudl be able to find your bookmarks in the menu under Bookmarks.

We were not able to bring across all of your tabs to the new Firefox for Android.

Hi Seburo,

this is exactly my problem - there are no bookmarks saved ! I have a clean browser : no bookmarks, no open tabs, no history ... So it's not safe to continue using this browser if it is not clear what happens to my data and settings after an update. It's a pity, I was always convinced by this software, but this behaviour is absolutely unacceptable for a permanent use. Thanks for your efforts, I will look for an alternative on the weekend.

Regards

This weekend I looked at alternatives for FF - only the new Vivaldi browser has similar possibilities and also a working tab bar. That was it here finally, FF is dead for me after years of suffering. Have fun destroying another once great software!

@Seburo: Where did you get your information from? "Firefox for Android upgrade FAQs", "What happens during the upgrade?", "Items that will be migrated" says open tabs are migrated. See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-android-upgrade-faqs#w_items-that-will-be-migrated

If, as you say, open tabs are not migrated, the FAQ should state that.

I also lost my open tabs, which were important. On Android, where is the backup profile that gets created before an upgrade? I need to recover my open tabs.

@thekmh: You might also consider Brave Browser, if you haven't already. It's an open source, MPL licensed, chromium based, privacy-centric browser. There is an article on wikipedia that can tell you more about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_(web_browser). That's what I'll be using in the future if mozilla trashed my tabs without any way to recover them.

Also missing all tabs, and I switched to Firefox because Chrome kept losing my tabs. Was a solution found?
