A message arrived with an event. I didn't want to use the event and pressed Decline, thinking this would remove it. But instead it added it to calendar and removed all the text in the message except for the event panel. How can I restore the full message text which includes vital information not directly connected to the event? For the future, how do I stop Thunderbird from processing events (I don't use calendar)?

Yes you do use the calendar, So I must assume your asking how to disable it. Note that your events will probably appear afterwards as attachment you need a calendar application to read.

Go to add-on on the application menu the three bar hamburger icon on the toolbar. Select add-ons

In the extensions tab of the add-on manager locate the add-on lightning and click the disable button. Restart Thunderbird.
