When I try to add a new theme, instead of taking me to the add-ons in Thunderbird, it opens a browser window, and I'm not able to add a new theme to Thunderbird
Trying to look at and/or add new themes in "add-on" section of Thunderbird takes me to a browser page, instead of opening in Thunderbird like it used to. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you.

There has recently been a change in where Thunderbird themes are stored. It only happened about a week or so ago. https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/07/17/the-new-thunderbird-add-ons-site-is-now-live/ https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/07/10/new-site-for-thunderbird-and-seamonkey-add-ons/
Thank you for the information. Can you please guide me as to how to add them to Thunderbird after going to the new correct link? When I click "Add to Thunderbird" from Firefox, it adds the next theme to my browser theme. When I try the link from another browser, I get an error message, "We're sorry. We can't find what you're looking for."
can't install themes either - OSX and Windows 10 both fail (in different ways)
For lightweight themes, or personas, see this post:

For full themes, download the xpi installer with Firefox and install in TB:
