Hi,

I got several version updates from Firefox, Once it is updated every time I open firefox I get "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." error popup. After clicking OK button two to three times firefox will get opened and If I try to open a new tab or enter website URL this popup appears again and until I click OK it doesn't allow me to do anything on the browser. I tried all the articles steps to fix this but none worked. At last, I downgraded version to 48 and this error doesn't appear.

I have deleted the mystery FIrefox folder on my desktop, created a new profile, uninstalled Firefox developer TWICE.... and still this is happening. what else do you suggest??? I'd like to blame Quantum, but the error started popping up only recently, and at the start, was very rare rather than the 15 times it's popped up in 15 minutes after reinstalling.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

If you have a Windows user account that contains Unicode (non-ASCI) characters then this can be the cause. There have been issues reported related to a path to the Firefox profile folder.

  • bug 1418325 - "profile missing or inaccessible" message for users with non-latin characters in path

Earlier I was able to make a new profile. I tried that again tonight since I reinstalled Firefox. I am now unable to make a new profile and open Firefox at all. There are 36 instances of Firefox running in Task Manager. I'm so tired of hearing that blasted alert tone/having that window drag my focus off what I'm doing.

More than one process is normal for the current Firefox. http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Multi-process Firefox is codenamed "e10s". https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess

Try to disable multi-process tabs in Firefox. You can disable multi-process tabs in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.

browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.
