I have been autoforwarding to Gmail because it is easier on my phone but I don't remember how I turned it on and I cannot see how to turn it off

That is an issue with your e-mail provider. You say the mail is forwarding to Gmail

Where is the mail going to before Gmail? That is who you contact.
