how to remove -- double minuses in HTML signature from file
Using Thunderbird 52.2.1 on Windows 10 (x64) I have created some HTML signature files by saving the content of a message in TB. The signature blocks are all that I want except that they are all automatically preceded by a double hyphen "--" when they appear in a new message. This is not included in the HTML so I don't know where to look to remove them.

The -- addition is a requirement for signatures to be recognized as such, i.e. a signature delimiter to distinguish the message body and a signature, and removing it has some disadvantages.
You can however disable it by opening the Config Editor (in Options > Advanced) and toggling the mail.identity.default.suppress_signature_separator preference to true.
See this question for more info.
/Edit: false -> true.
