Why do my attachments save to my desktop after opening without me purposely saving them?
I'm using a Mac 10.12.1 - whenever I open an attachment in an email it automatically saves in the upper right corner of my desktop. I have to then go to the desktop and manually delete it off the desktop. This is consistent with every type of attachment not matter the extension.

attachments have to be saved somewhere so they can be opened. The location is set on preferences > attachments.
In windows this location is the temp folder. But as I understand it this is not always defines in OSX so other places are chosen.

Matt--thanks so much. I set up a folder on my Desktop called Temp Attachments and have them directed to go there. Appreciate the quick response!
