Occasionally TBird does not receive emails via Plusnet
I use Thunderbird for my PlusNet account. Occasionally, a few emails do not arrive. I know this because, as a backup email system, I use Hotmail via Outlook and have also set up my PlusNet address as a folder - it saves me using their WebMail and yet another email system. The missing ones do end up there. I have no trouble forwarding them from Hotmail on to my PlusNet address - don't ask why:I just like to keep some things separate. The missing emails do not end up in the Thunderbird Junk folder. Anyone got any ideas? It does not happen very often. Restating Thunderbird does not find the missing ones . Using Windows 7, TBird 45.2.0. No spam filters set up.

Did you set up the Plusnet address as a POP or IMAP account?

I thought I had relied to this but it appears not. The answer is POP3

I don't know what it means to set up your 'PlusNet address as a folder' in Outlook. In any case, is it after you start Outlook that messages are missing in Thunderbird?
I added the PlusNet address as another account in addition to the standard MS/Hotmail one. The PlusNet messages go to a separate folder i.e. not the Hotmail Inbox. I have just spotted another 'missing' email which is in the Outlook PlusNet folder but not in Thunderbird. In addition, it does not show up in PlusNet's webmail service for my PlusNet address. I noticed this just after I started TB and Outlook, in that order. As this email does not appear in their Webmail service, I assume their server believes that it has passed it on to my pc. At the moment, it appears to reside only on one of the Outlook servers. It may be that, due to a timing issue, this transfer occurs before sending it to TB and the PlusNet server then thinks the email has been moved on and does not actually pass it to TB - although the same problem does not appear to occur the other way round. I will close this as the issue seems to relate to PlusNet rather than TB.
