When traveling using a notebook computer, I want to keep, i.e., not delete, a few emails for later reading on my DT computer when returning home. How do I do this without cluttering up my NB with a lot of emails that I have already perused?

Use IMAP and then only display the unread mail.

Then when you get home your desktop can download what ever is left on the server that you did not delete while away.

This sounds like what I want. Any downsides?

The only real downside is remembering you are only displaying unread mail and running out of space on the server to store mail. But these days most providers a fairly generous with space, not like the old days where you got 5Mb
