Title says it all...the first time I open Firefox, each session, using www.Boston.com as my default home page, a pop up intrudes and the pop up blocker is on. It seems the subsequent time I open a browser, it doesn't pop up. Any ideas. Can someone recreate the problem? It's a particularly bothersome one as it's a big full page pop up.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Guys, pls don't provide such stock answers. This is a brand new laptop, running Windows 8, just out of the box, first thing I installed was Firefox, set it to Boston.com as my home page, and it doesn't block the home page pop up, although pop blocker is enabled in Options. Guess I should switch to Chrome.

I don't have problems with video ads, but should I definitely install this?

AdBlock can stop pop-ups as well as on page ads.
