Hello, i am a FF user with a ssd as main drive. I found out before that it is possible to move the internet cache from the hard disk to the ram (http://lifehacker.com/5687850/speed-up-firefox-by-moving-your-cache-to-ram-no-ram-disk-required), and i was very pleased by that feature because FF footprint on the ssd dropped significantly, and the weekly clean-up with ccleaner was much faster with much smaller files sizes. Now with the update to the 32th version i see that the cache is still small, but the cookies and especially internet history ramp up very quickly in size. I think that the new http cache is the main reason for this. My (first world) problem is that i would like to keep the ssd the cleanest possible, so is it possible to move the internet history also to the ram, since i have 16gb of it? Or the only possible thing to do is to return to previous situation and disable the new type of cache? I know that my ssd will eventually die, but i would like to squeeze the most out of it.

Browsing history is saved within the places.sqlite file, along with bookmarks, in the Profile folder. It is not possible to move the places.sqlite file out of the Profile folder, the entire Profile would need to be moved from its default location. The Profile won't work successfully in "ram". Each time you launch Firefox the Profile would be missing and upon launch Firefox would create a new Profile in the default location - along with recreating a whole bunch of new files that reside in the two default Profile locations.

The only solution that I can think of is if you also have a hard drive onboard, create a new Profile there.
