Is it possible to specify to Firefox to start with already two or more tab groups created?

I am generally using two tab groups: - one for work tabs - one for "fun" tabs My Firefox is starting with a blank page, I would like it starting with two tab groups, each containing a blank tab. (History and cookies are deleted when I close my Firefox, so answers specifying "Click the Exit button for tabs groups to be remembered" won't work for me ;)

If you set up two tab groups, you could set them as the home page (I think). Otherwise, set them up and set Firefox to open tabs from last time in Options > General. You could also just bookmark the tab groups and then open all in tabs.

I don't see how. I have tried opening two tab groups with empty tabs and in Options>General, I have clicked "Use Current Page" and set "When Firefox starts: show my home page". This does not work.

Otherwise, set them up and set Firefox to open tabs from last time in Options > General.

This does not work as I have set the option to clear all data when Firefox exit.

You could also just bookmark the tab groups and then open all in tabs.

Could you please elaborate on that one? I don't quite understand what you mean. How do you bookmark a tab group?

When you have the tabs set up, you can right-click one of them and choose "Bookmark All Tabs". If you want 2 separate groups, set up the first one, bookmark all tabs, give the folder a suitable name for the group, then close that group and set up the other one and do the same thing. To launch, choose the first folder and Open All In Tabs, then choose the second one and do it again. Bookmarks are more stable than tab groups anyway, and are very easy to back up. Not only does Firefox back them up, but you can make other backups in different locations if you want to do that.

That works but that's not quite what I want. I'd like something more automated, and not having to perform some clicks at Firefox start (what I'm already doing by creating two tab groups...).

Guess that's not really doable for now. Thanks though!

Actually, set up a folder containing the tabs that you want to open at start up. Go to the options menu and click on Use Bookmark (under the home page options) - click on the folder and select - that action copies all the tabs over to the Home Page box - each time you open Firefox all the tabs will open automatically.

I've also been looking for this option, it's Cool and eliminates lots of clicks.

Hi paragon,

Thank you for your answer, but this is not what I asked. What I would like is to open tabs automatically, but in different tab groups (tab groups are the big boxes you see with CTRL+E).

Orange Firefox Menu Bar Thing -> Option -> When Firefox starts: show my windows and tabs from last time.

Seeing as you will be working with the 2 groups, you could simply close firefox when you stop, and continue with the 2 groups (and tabs within them).

I realize it's not fully correct answer, as you wanted them be empty at the beginning of each day... but simply close all tabs in the 2 groups before exiting firefox?

EDIT: NVM, I read your question and realized you can't use this options, as history&cookies is deleted...

EDIT2: still, these are saved in the cache, so can't you use the above-mentioned solution?
