Firefox crashes
Since updating to version 9.0.1 Firefox has "disappeared" around 5am GMT every morning for the past 3 days. There is no crash report. Is this a known problem?
When it is reloaded it comes up but says it cannot restore the previous session. I had changed nothing else on the system when this first happened. Since then there has been a microsoft update and I have also installed Skype.
The first two times I thought it might have something to do with the beginning and end of the SOPA protest activities but it happened again this morning.
The two tabs I had running were ones that I have had constantly for many months and have always been successfully restored. They have not changed. Likewise the Chatzilla IRC link which also disappears. I leave this on monitoring communications overnight and I am losing all my records.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

If you have submitted Breakpad crash reports then post the IDs of one or more Breakpad crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page. You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.
