Installed Firefox on Samsung Galaxy Flip3 5G cell telephone. Launch Firefox and Google search opens up. Cannot get rid of Google search in order to go to a website using Firefox. Able to type in the web address in Google search but it won't let me open the website through Google. How do I undo this Google mess and apply the correct settings? The only other option I've accidentally come across is a feature to select one of six search engines. Step-by-step would be appreciated because I am not an IT expert. BTW, I am typing this on a desktop PC.

Hi

This support article should be able to help you change the default search provider in Firefox for Android:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manage-my-default-search-engines-firefox-android

I hope that this helps.

That helped, sorta. Thanks.

It seems to only allow me to remove one search engine and automatically replaces that with a second search engine. I was able to reduce, somewhat, all of the annoying drop down list of URL names from appearing. Now, only one URL address that I don't want appears in the address bar when I type the first letter of the URL that I actually want to go to. If there's a way to keep the address bar "clean" while I try to type the address I want to go to that would be wonderful. I tried to find it by going to cell phone Settings (not Settings in the Firefox app) and read through that Samsung scrambled hodge-podge of not-alphabetical order list of items. No luck there.

I also tried to add Privacy Badge. It was able to download but wouldn't open/install. There's another app needed to do that?

Found the way to keep the search engine from taking over the address bar when trying to type in an address. Thank you

Okay, great news.

Is everything all resolved now?
