When going into the settings menu on the right side of Thunderbird, is there a way to keep the menu from disappearing EVERY you make a choice in customizations/layout settings? When trying to choose different settings to see what they look like in layout (because you don't know what that selection looks like), instead of changing w/ the selection (& still keeping you in the menu), it exits you all the way back out of the menu. You have to keep going all the way back in for each selection....3 or 4 more selections/clicking back into the menu again until you find the layout/customization you want. Is there a way to select customization items in the menu without being kicked out of the menu each time, until I actually want to exit the menu?Thanks!

No. But you may find the menu toolbar more convenient, which you can navigate by keyboard.

<Alt-key> | View | Toolbars | Menu Toolbar

Thereafter you can change the views with keyboard:

Alt+V | L | <enter-key> | <hit the key for your layout> | <spacebar>

L=Layout spacebar causes selection action
