I deleted 2 duplicate accounts from emails. When I did all my current emails are gone, all the file folders are gone, and why do emails over 2 weeks old disappear and where do they go, and can I retrieve them? Just to note I've attempted using Thunderbird for over a month and I am completely dissatisfied. This is the worst software to get any GOOD/direct assistance, like person to person contact. Thank you..........

We don't do person to person contact here. This forum is plenty adequate for all the help you need with Thunderbird.

When removing the accounts from Thunderbird, did you also tick the option to delete their messages data as well?

First, I don't have a clue what your asking. I see now that when I delete an email, a red "X" appears. I don't know why that is happening or to just delete the email. I had to redo my account for email, got back my current emails back to 6/24, but I lost all the file folders I had set up and their contents. Is there a way to get them back?? Also, all the open emails prior to 6/24 have disappeared from my inbox. Any way to retrieve or find them?? Once they leave my server, they are not stored. This is the first software I've ever used that didn't have good directions to do something, or able to contact a customer service rep for guidance. I used to use Incredimail, it was awesome. Never needed to go to a forum for help. If I could find another mail client like them, I would jump on it. So far I am very disillusioned with Thunderbird. Any help will be appreciated. I am NOT a techy person, just a Senior novice. Thank you

I just noticed you asked the same here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1291717 and you were getting help, but you never replied back. Are you having difficulties tracing the questions you post here?

First, I don't have a clue what your asking.

You said you "deleted two duplicate accounts from emails". This being a Thunderbird forum, I'm assuming you removed/deleted two accounts from Thunderbird. When you do that, Thunderbird pops up a prompt to confirm the deletion, and one of the options on that prompt is to also delete the messages data for that account, so my question refers to that prompt and that option. If that is not what you did, then please explain what exactly you mean by "deleted two duplicate accounts from emails".

I see now that when I delete an email, a red "X" appears. I don't know why that is happening or to just delete the email.

Where does this red X appear exactly?

That depends on several things. Is the account IMAP or POP? You were asked this on the other thread which you never responded to.

There are other (commercial) clients, check them out here https://www.google.com/search?q=commercial+email+client

There are many knowledgebase Help Articles to help you with using Thunderbird. To access them, just go to the Help menu and click the Thunderbird Help option or simply press F1. You can also access them here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird and if you have difficulties finding or following help, just ask here and a whole community of volunteers will have your back.
