When I click the star icon, this menu appears:

After about 2 seconds, the bookmark is automatically saved without me clicking on anything.

For me it's about 3.5 seconds.

It's just like that. You have to at least move a cursor on the dialog, then it will not dissapear.

Thank you. I will have to think about it a long time before I accept that solution as good enough to continue using Firefox as my main browser. I am used to the intuitive behavior of Internet Explorer and the only reason that I use Firefox. at all, is because it supports uBlock Origin which is necessary to get rid of obnoxious elements on a few websites that I frequent. I am unhappy that I have to put up with an obnoxious element in my browse to get rid of obnoxious elements on webpages.

And, I emphasize that I never had to read directions or ask a question about using Internet Explorer because its controls are intuitive.

Hello aruzinsky,

That dropdown does indeed close way too fast, but (and I only just recently found out) : when you click the star again, the same dropdown will open and stay open till you click 'Done'. Would you give it a try and see if it works for you  ?

Edit : typo .....

No, double clicking the star instantly saves the bookmark.

If you click the highlighted star then you open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog or closes the dialog when it is open. A double-click is interpreted as two single clicks, the first click opens the dialog (and possibly bookmarks the page and the second click closes the dialog. The only way to have the dialog stay open when you click the star to bookmark th page is to move the mouse pointer in the dialog or press a keyboard shortcut to focus an item in the dialog. If you do nothing then the dialog closes automatically in about three seconds.

Don't double click - click it once; then wait for it to close. Then click the star again and it will stay open. Works for me .......
