Can't Create New Event

Yesterday I deleted an event that spanned 3 days. On deleting, an error message popped up and then disappeared so quickly I couldn't read it. I didn't think much about it until an hour or so later when I tried to create a new event. The 'New Event' option is greyed out, double-clicking does nothing ... I can't create a new event. When I try to edit an existing event, by double-clicking on it, I get a message window with the information of the event and an 'OK' button, but no edit window at all.

I thought that restarting might fix things. Unfortunately no. Same problem.

I've been using Thunderbird and the calendar for about 8 years, no problem. I do not have the Beehive extension.

I solved this and am positing in case others are having similar issues.

In my case, somehow my calendar had become 'read only'.

In the left hand pane there is a drop down called "Calendar". In my case I have only one calendar in that menu -- 'Home'. I noticed that there was a little lock icon to the right of this. I selected this and a dialog popped up in which I saw "Read-only" selected. I de-selected this. Now I can create events again.

Hope this helps someone. Best, Nancy
