how to import e-mail from Shaw.ca
I just changed from Shaw.ca to Telus.net. I have successfully migrated e-mail but the pages and add-ons have changed so I just go round in circles. I have downloaded ImportExport Tools but I can't seem to get it to work. Help. Alvie

So you had an account with shaw and you have switched to telus and now your email messages in Thunderbird have vanished?
That suggest to me that you used IMAP and all your messages were stored on the shaw servers.
Please clarify what you mean by having "migrated e-mail". Email account? Email address? Email messages?
What are you trying to do when you "just go round in circles"?

Two or three years ago I was having great trouble with Internet Explorer and I had to change my e-mail. It migrated my e-mail with out hitch from my old program to my new thunderbird account . This time though I follow the instructions step by step in the ImportExport Tool program I never reach a page to accomplish the transfer of my e-mail to my new thunderbird account. It goes round in circles. Just now Shaw assured me that their web mail of my account is open and e-mail is flowing from them to me being forwarded . I had a space of about ten days where I did not receive any e-mail and I am trying to reclaim that group of messages. They are on Shaw Webmail.ca and these are the messages I am trying to acquisition. Hope this clarifies the problem . Alvie
New messages are coming in but only the new ones since I set up my Thunderbird Account. Messages I am not getting are the ones received during the blank space in the the switch from shaw to Telus.
Between shaw and Telus.... mail goes to an email address.
That statement is like saying I moved house and my snail mail between when I left my old house and moved into a new one is missing. In the absence of some sort of redirect, of course mail to a dead mail account is going to bounce back to it's original sender. Or just be dropped as the account is closed.
I think I explained it fully,Shaw held open their web mail for two weeks so I could transfer to telus but I guess this idea was too much for your operative to understand. So much for helping me transfer my e-mail. GOODBYE
Just add the shaw account to Thunderbird. And then add the new account. Move the messages from old account to new within Thunderbird.
You don't have a "Thunderbird account". No such thing,
Why not take an account with gmail/gmx/yahoo/aol/outlook and then you won't have this hassle next time you change ISP?
It's a shame you didn't explain your situation as clearly before. You confused me at least by talking about "migrating". Since the required process is simply copying messages from one folder to another, it hardly warrants the grandiose label of "migration".
Who told you that you need ImportExportTools to do this?
Received your latest which is quite clear but I can't follow it. I have latest Firefox and Thunderbird e-mail. both downloaded within last 4 weeks. When I click on Thunderbird icon on task bar the resulting page does not resemble you description at all.I have tried every available entery and none give me a path to add new account.
I printed the instructions so I followed your instructions. I got the Import /Export from googling Telus.net
