Adobe Flash crashes endlessly, reset or update does no good
I have dealt with this for years. I have "reset" Firefox numerous times, I have uninstalled Adobe Flash and reinstalled version 16.0.0.235. After I uninstalled and updated it ran for a while but I am back to the "Flash is busy" message. The only way I can go on is to stop the plug in, or disable it, but of course then I have no video. I installed "Videowithoutflash" (I think that was the name of it listed with Firefox extension and highly reviewed, and it all ran fine for about a day. But then the next day no videos would play unless I enabled flash, and then it soon starts crashing again. This is a problem for years now. I have been through many forums trying to find an answer, nothing works, or if it does not for long. Is there not some way to get rid of Adobe Flash and play videos? Are there any browsers that don't use flash for viewing videos? Help! Thanks in advance Bill

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Your system details shows you do not have flash installed.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause
Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

Thanks for looking, Fred! I had to disable Flash earlier in the day to do anything whatsoever on Firefox, like post this thread/question. Opening most any page on Firefox- since numerous little video adds usually pop up with the page and each one causes ther "Flah player is busy" message, and nothing can be done unless the plug in is stopped, and that will get me about 30 seconds until the next video add tries to load. Finally, I have to disable flash to be able to open any page and read it. At some point (can't remember if it was right before- but I think it was more likely right after I started this thread) I - once again- uninstalled and reinstalled flash player, So, this evening all has been well again. But experience shows this won't be for long. I have done this many times over the years.
However, re: the toolbars you mention, I will try to disable all of those. Is this all done from within Firefox, or will I need to uninstall programs from control panel?
Thanks again! Bill EDIT: All though, doesn't reseting Firefox disable all add ons/extensions/toolbars? Because I have reset several times and it does not help. Only uninstalling and reinstalling or disabling Flash gets me operational again, for a while.

- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

OK, thanks the-edmeister! Here are the most recent 5 crashes, out of roughly 20 on that day. If anyone can find anything useful in that info, great! So far still working fine on the most recent flash un/reinstall. I guess as long as that keeps working, that is better than nothing. Though an irritant, it is not all that time consuming or that much trouble, and certainly much better than the browser being unusable due to constant "flash is busy" messages. But maybe there is some info in the crash reports that will tell why it does this. That would be great! Bill

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
- check for updates for your graphics drive drivers

- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

OK, thanks folks, good help. I have worked on a lot of this, even though all is still working since latest un/reinstall. Some of this, like disable protect mode, I have already done in the past. As best I can tell, all drivers are up to date.
That Flashblock looks intriguing, but looks like some trouble- per recent reviews- with newest FF 34.0.5?
Went ahead and added Flashblock version updated a few days ago, seems to work as expected and is sweet!

FlashBlock was updated for the current Firefox. Just one thing. All FlashBlock does is block flash from running. You still have the problem. But at least not you don't have to go crazy with errors.

So far, so good. If/when the problem comes up again, I agree: at least I won't have multiple videos per page trying to load and each giving me that error message. Things are much faster right now with all of those video adds blocked! Yay! Bill
I was glad to help you. I wish the problem could have been corrected, but, at least I got you half way there.
Go to Adobe Support. They may be able to solve the real problem.

I have been complaining about this for years. I am so mad that it never gets fixed. It makes using Firefox a nightmare. The flash player crashes my browser roughly every 5 minutes.
You can set plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page to avoid Firefox using them and only activate when you need them.
You can try this in case of problems with the Shockwave Flash plugin:
- check for updates for your graphics drive drivers

Sorry Stacey, I don't know what any of that code means, maybe someone else will. I am still doing mostly just fine after having installed flashblock, OK most of the time. Now I am most likely to have a new problem, getting a message in the middle of the video saying they want to store more info on my computer, and I can not OK this even if I try, and I also can't deny- it will not respond know matter what I do or don't do. The other day Firefox became unusable because of this, I switched to Chrome and everything worked fine. And for the last few days everything is working fine on Firefox also.
First thing you should do is install flashblock and see if that will at least help. Oh and I seem to have AT LAST solved a problem with Drudge report updating every couple of minutes(so irritating, especially without flashblock because then it would try to auto-load 5 diff videos each update) by installing YesScript! Hooray! No more updating unless I click refresh!

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers, click it and select Submit.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them.
Now create your own post, and paste them in.

It really messes with my mind that two companies (Adobe & Firefox) have customers in common who depend on their product. Obviously there are compatibility issues with the product. However, it seems that neither company wants to address the issue.
The guy who initiated this question had to deal with this for years??? Seriously??? And the most help he receives is only activate the plugin when you have to use it???

Yes Minaluver, it is very sad indeed. It had been years of intermittent problems when I started this thread , and that was 6 months ago. I have often achieved temporary fixes, but the problem always returns. I have recently switched to a MAC, and SO FAR, so good in all 3 browsers. Time will tell. This morning I had to go do some work on the other Dell Win 7 computer due to programs that I have not yet transferred over. As is so often the case, I'm not even trying to watch any danged video, but multiple videos auto start at most web pages, for commercials. And sure enough, there were videos with the NEW problem of a bar in the middle blocking the view and demanding more space on my computer, but the message will not respond to either yes or no. Just freaking ridiculous.
Considering the amazing things computers are capable of, this is truly inexcusable. I'm just not sure who deserves most of the anger: Adobe flash player, or Firefox or my Windows 7 Dell computer. I'm even throwing the computer brand in there as a possibility, as my daughter has a Win 7 HP of about the same age as my Dell, and does not seem to have near the problems I have with Adobe Flash, and like I said this MAC has zero problems in any browser SO FAR. And maybe it is viruses that get on the computer despite expensive firewalls etc, and are going undetected.
Who knows, it appears to be an unsolvable mystery, except occasionally in the short term. It is disgusting. Basically makes affected computers unusable on the net. Bill
