Files are downloaded under D:\Downloads\ instead of D:\ as requested
HI everyone,
Although my General/Downloads/Save Files To setting is set to "D:\", downloaded files are instead saved to D:\Downloads. If I delete this folder, it gets created every time I download a file.
Strangely, it seems to me that this only happens sometimes, and that occasionally files are actually downloaded to D:\ as expected.
This is quite disruptive, as I have my PC set up such that it is much easier to get files from the root folder (D:\). Can anyone help? Thanks!

1 way to try resolve this is under option -> general to check always ask me where to save files. So you manually choose where you want the file to saved.
Yes, I know, however I'd prefer for them to go under d:\ automatically, as used to happen a couple of FFX versions ago. I'm not actually sure if a FFX update or something else is responsible for this "feature"...
By the way, this part of Firefox is so broken that even though my settings are "always save to D:\", not only does it fail by (most of the time) saving automatically to D:\Downloads as I previously mentioned, but also, it sometimes randomly also pops-up the "Enter name of file to save to" window where you're meant to choose a folder&file name !

This can happen if you specify the root location like X:/ and not a specific folder.
The solution in this case is to create a sub folder and specify to use this sub folder.

That Bug is supposed to be fixed in 28, which is why I said to update to 28.
Presumably this is a bug just in recent versions then, as I was in fact able to download to the root folder a few months ago.
I updated to v28. For now it downloads to D:\, but as I said I did see the problem occuring randomly before, so I'll report back if it still acts up. Thanks for the help
Right, yes, sorry! :)
