The Accessibility option to warn about reloads and redirects only applies to a few of the methods that can be used to refresh a page. The feature, unfortunately, is quite limited in this modern age.

When you have a problem with one particular site that previously worked normally, this could be caused by a mixture of current and obsolete files or data. A good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Such an automatically reload is usually done via JavaScript and the only way to prevent it in such a case would be to block this specific JavaScript.
I'm seeing this automatic reload as well with the page you provided and couldn't find how it is done in this case as there is a lot of JavaScript running.

The accessibility setting that you mentioned won't prevent such a reload in cases like this.

Hi jsher2000,

Thanks for responding. I tried bypassing Bypass Firefox's Cache without success. I don't get cookies from the website: http://www.uclick.com/client/nydn/slw/

I opened this website with IE7 and it works without refreshing the page just like Firefox always did. The only thing I can think of is their website must have made a change which affected Firefox. I say this because yesterday I could not access this website later in the day. Then this morning is the first time I noticed the problem.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can try.

['co-rel' who also verified my problem. Thanks]

Hello, I ended up installing the extension YesScript. It stopped the automatic reloading (or refreshing) of the web page problem that began a few days ago.

I tested the add-on by starting a game which started a timer, then paused for approx. 38 min. and the page remained unchanged with the game in the same state before I paused it.

You were right: it must have been a website change to have JavaScript reload the page automatically about every minute forcing me to restart a game.

Thanks for your help.
