How do I get rid of the Inspector at the bottom of my Firefox browser?

There is a grey toolbar at the bottom of my Firefox browser, apparently I added it somehow, but I don't know how. There is a red "X" on the far right, but clicking the button to "Close Inspector", does absolutely nothing. How do I get rid of it? It's got several tabs like; div#_GPLIT & div#cont, etc...it's very annoying and it won't close. Please help me.

Did you try to close and restart Firefox?

You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
