Using the crashID you posted I found your crash report at

Firefox 7.0.1 Crash Report [@ mozcomp.dll@0xadb6 ]
ID: f8e5697d-aa98-4f7f-b602-58d072111001
Signature: mozcomp.dll@0xadb6

The crash report lists this bug report which includes a workaround: *Bug 680927 NEW Startup crash in mozcomp.dll with Oracle Enterprise, F5 Networks, Passlogix V-GO, IBM Tivoli Access Manager SSO

Since this crash only occurs in Firefox 7, downgrading to a previous Firefox version is another workaround. Firefox 3.6.23 is currently available here and is still supported. See Install an older version of Firefox.

I found the fix at the bottom of the link you provided where i've got to "the empty "FileName" value to the "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Passlogix\Extensions\AccessManager\MozHO\molten\{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}\4.0" key"

I'm not clever enough to work out what all that means :) so I will take the easy root and install an earlier version of firefox as you suggest.

Hey, thanks for posting back. I would probably take the easy route, too since I hate editing the Windows registry! The way to do the registry edit in this case, by the way, would be to click on the "Workaround for the crash" link posted under "attachments" at the top of the bug report, which will create a "ff7fix.reg" file when you save the page. You would then run the .reg file to merge it in the registry (I would export the registry key first, as a precaution).

If you want to register a bugzilla account, you can "vote" for Bug 680927 and you are notified of its progress by e-mail. That way, you can update Firefox to the latest version when the bug is eventually fixed.
