I'm having problems in different websites. Certain text show up as if the encoding was messed up. Either in the page itself or in forms from pages, such as this one. This is not happening in different browsers. I've uploaded some screen captures of this problem: http://i50.tinypic.com/11ihjf4.png http://i46.tinypic.com/117tmid.png

It is not an encoding, but a font issue.

This issue can be caused by the bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or another (bitmap) font that can't be displayed by Firefox in that font size. Firefox can't display that font in the specified size and displays gibberish instead. You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.

Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or find a True type version of that font that doesn't have the problem.

I have the same problem but have neither Helvetica nor Geneva installed. I've tested the zoom, and it doesn't correct the problem. Is there a way to test which fonts aren't compatible with Firefox?

There have been other fonts reported that cause a similar issue: [tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=1&comments_parentId=566006]
