Youtube webpage search box
I'm having a problem with firefox and the youtube webpage. When I use the youtube search box on the youtube site I can't use the space bar to create spaces. It seems to be stuck in media control mode as the space bar only pauses and unpauses videos now. I am not focused on the video bar of a video which would normally result in space pausing the video. My cursor in the search box and the space bar still pauses and unpauses but no spaces are made in the search box.
I do not have this problem in Chrome or Edge.
What I have tried doing:
1. Restart machine 2. Refresh firefox 3. Uninstall firefox
Point 3 above doesn't seem to be any different from refreshing firefox.
I am not sure what else to do here. Perhaps I'm just missing something basic?

Looks like YouTube has fixed this issue as I'm no longer seeing it. You may have to reload and bypass the cache.
You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

It's not you -- during the past two hours reports have flooded in. We think Google did an update but we don't have a fix yet.
One potential workaround is to search YouTube from Firefox's address bar or optional short search bar. To add YouTube as a search engine, while you are on the site, click the Page Actions menu button (•••) near the right end of the address bar and click "Add Search Engine." You make make it more convenient to use by adding a shortcut (or "keyword") on the Options page. For example, in the first attached screenshot, I've assigned y. Then I can search YouTube by typing y and a space in the address bar, as shown in the second screenshot.
However users also reporting problems typing in comments, so if you are heavy commenter, you might just need to take a break from YouTube in Firefox for a few hours until we have clarity on what's going on.
I have the same problem right now, can't use the space bar to create space between words. Only happens on Firefox on Youtube
same thing. Together with the bug, that all menus are not loading.
There are some bug reports about this issue filed, all duped to this bug where you can keep an eye on.
- Bug 1697551 - Unable to type spaces and other characters (f, m) into YouTube search bar
(please do not comment in bug reports
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html)
The problem is worst than just the space bar. It seems that there is an hidden focus video. Cause even when you want to type a comment under a video, Space Bar isn't moving the cursor but pause/unpause the video. Typing other characters are registered as youtube shortcuts like the comment line or the search bar is also the video focus so a c will toggle the subtitles, k will toggle pause/unpause, f will toggle fullscreen... And so on !!!
A possible workaround for now is to write text or affected characters elsewhere (e.g. in the location bar) and paste the clipboard content in the search bar or comment field.
