Looking at this page, it appears that epcan is based on Exchange Server. That is why the instructions for Android use Exchange ActiveSync. If the administrator hasn't set up POP, IMAP and SMTP access, you won't be able to access the account with TB, as it doesn't support ActiveSync (Outlook does).

You might get it to work with these TB add-ons:

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/exquilla-exchange-web-services/

https://github.com/ExchangeCalendar/exchangecalendar/releases

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/tbsync/

Note that these add-ons provide some combination of access to mail, calendars and contacts.

Provider Epcan set up POP3/IMAP and SMTP. I did a test with this configuration by android mailapp. I did not use the Exchange workflow. But i will test with the add on's. Thanks

If POP, IMAP and SMTP are enabled, you just need to get the server names, ports, connection security and authentication settings. The server probably is not web.epcan.email, the Exchange server. If that works, you will be able to access the mail without add-ons, but an add-on will be needed to sync contacts and calendars.

Yes and there is my problem

Your name: should be your name not an email address. Username: this is usually your full email address, but sometimes it is the first part before the @, so try full email address. Password is the same one you use to access webmail.

the server name you have: 'web.epcan.mail', looks like what is used to access webmail va browser eg: https://web.epcan.email/login.php and not access server for imap.

If you logon to your webmail account, is there anything about selecting imap or pop or even what to use for server settings in email clients?

Updated info...been searching...Located info: Access by phone info talks about clicking on 'Exchange' to set up account. Klicken Sie auf die Option „Exchange“ (Bild 1) – Tippen Sie ihre E-Mail-Adresse und das dazugehörige Kennwort ein. (Bild 2) Also: found and translated this: We operate our own Microsoft Exchange farm on our redundant server and storage systems.......

So it seems you can get access but via Microsoft Exchange... You may need to ask the epcan admin whether imap and smtp is switched on for you. Perhaps it is currently disabled.

Maybe those server settings will work but only via exchange.

Located some info posted by Zenos: Thunderbird doesn't have this proprietary protocol. I use an Exchange account myself, but it has POP, IMAP and SMTP enabled, so I can use it like any regular standards-compliant email account. If your Exchange server doesn't have these standard protocols enabled, you made need an add-on.

OR

Whilst I've located this info, I do not use exchange, so cannot really advise further.

sfhowes can you offer some pointers?

On this page, they state: E-Mail-Abruf per Webmail, POP3, IMAP (E-mail retrieval via webmail, POP3, IMAP), and SRT claims a non-Exchange account was set up on an Android mail app. But I can't find the usual definition of server settings for this provider - and my inability to read German doesn't help.

The epcan.de domain resolves to mail.wolkenpower.de or post.wolkenpower.de, which are more likely names for incoming and outgoing mail servers. Also, the smtp supports TLS, which means the outgoing server should use STARTTLS security on port 587.
